



Northern California Conference — February 23-24, 2013 — This workshop was sponsored by Dr. Gordon Botting, Health Ministries Director of the Northern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. There were 157 registered attendees and we met at the Gracepoint Seventh-day Adventist Church in Rocklin, CA. This was our largest workshop in the history of CHIP in the Church! Margaret Botting and her team provided delicious meals. Dr. Hans Diehl spoke at the Sabbath services and Stephan Herzog, Kathy Reynaert-Randall, and Dena Guthrie facilitated the training.
Beltsville, MD — January 12-13, 2013 — This workshop was presented by the Potomac ABC LivingWell Lifestyle Program, a health education program designed by Dr. John and Sally Kelly to reach busy people with the Gospel using the local Adventist Book Center as the venue. CHIP will empower the program. Twenty-five (25) registered attendees met at the Filipino Capital Adventist Church in Beltsville, MD for a great time together. The training coordinators were John Kelly, Kathy Reynaert-Randall, Stephan Herzog, and Dena Guthrie. Annette Ryan provided the delicious meals along with Sally Kelly and friends.

Cohutta Springs Conference Center, Crandall, Georgia — November 14-15, 2012
This workshop preceded the annual CHIP Summit and trained leadership in the use of the new CHIP+ program. There were 113 in attendance and each received a copy of the new Adventist Church CHIP Training Manual and the brand new CHIP Participant Tool Kit. The training team included Stephan Herzog, Kathy Reynaert-Randall, and Dena Guthrie.

Weimar, California — August 24-26, 2012 .This workshop was sponsored by NEWSTART Renew and convened on the beautiful campus of Weimar Center of Health and Education in Weimar, CA. There were 36 participants plus several faculty in attendance. Most of the students were part of the 4-month HEALTH program, an acronym for Health Evangelism And Leadership Training for Him. Workshop coordinators included Don Mackintosh, Lanni Aasen, Kathy Pfulgrad, Harold Burden, and Dena Guthrie.

Camp Hope, British Columbia, Canada — July 29, 2012. This workshop was conducted at the Hope, BC Campmeeting on the beautiful grounds of Camp Hope near Hope, BC. There were 26 in attendance from British Columbia, Alberta, Oregon, and Ontario. A big thanks to Ern Brake, the BC Health Ministries Director, for making this workshop possible. The training team included Larry Shipowick, Connie Kiefiuk, Harold Burden, and Dena Guthrie. CHIP for Church first developed in British Columbia and once firmly established there, spread to the United States. Now it’s time to reignite CHIP in BC!

Hartford, Connecticut — May 18 - 20, 2012.
This workshop was presented in cooperation with the Atlantic Union and the Southern New England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and convened in the fellowship hall of the Connecticut Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church. There were 34 registered from 9 churches representing many professions including pastors, nurses, a physician and physician’s assistant, a CPA, a literature evangelist and many more. Pastor Tom Dombrowski initiated and hosted this event along with strong support from the SNEC Health Director, Pastor Bill Warcholik. A big thanks to both of them for their presentations and to Pastor Tom for his faithful A/V support. The delicious meals were coordinated by Melanie Geise and represented well the nutritional perspective of CHIP. The training team included Dena Guthrie, Lynda Nelson, and Kathy Pflugrad. If the responsive nature of this delightful group is any indicator, there will be many new CHIP programs with happy, healthy graduates as a result of our time together.

Cincinnati, Ohio — April 20-22, 2012.
This workshop was presented in cooperation with the Ohio Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and convened in the fellowship hall of the Clifton Seventh-day Adventist Church. There were 41 registered participants representing 11 churches from Ohio and Kentucky. Participants included four pastors, two registered dietitians, several nurses, and a physician in addition to many other careers. Dr. Hans Diehl and Dr. John Kelly were special guests at this workshop. A very big thanks to Pastor Jeba Moses and Marvin Hugo for initiating and hosting this workshop and to Mary and Lisa Haller for fabulous meals that got five-star ratings. The AV support, Ryan Panda, helped a great deal. The training team included Kathy Pflugrad, Susan Landess, and Darla Sherman. We pray that many new chapters and teams will emerge from this workshop.

Portland, Oregon — March 30 - April 1, 2012.
This workshop, presented in cooperation with the North Pacific Union and the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, met at the Holden Convention Center in Gladstone, OR. There were 44 registered participants representing 11 churches from Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. A big thanks to Harold Burden for initiating this workshop and to Cheri Corder, Associate Director of Member Ministries in the Oregon Conference, for so warmly welcoming us and opening the beautiful Convention Center for our use. Jayne Johnson, events coordinator at the Center, met our every need and with the cook, ensured delicious meals. The training team included Harold Burden, Dena Guthrie, and Kathy Pflugrad with gratitude for the special support of Dr. Brian and Carlene Will of the Meadow Glade CHIP program. May God bless every new chapter and team that will result from this workshop.

Minneapolis, Minnesota — March 16-18, 2012.
This workshop was presented in cooperation with the Mid-America Union and Minnesota Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and met at the Minnesota Conference Office in Maple Grove, MN. There were 35 registered representing nine (9) churches from Minnesota and one (1) church from Iowa. A big thanks to Merry Moody from Grand Rapids for initiating this workshop and providing leadership support. Elder Justin Lyons, VP of Administration at the Conference, opened the beautiful conference room for our use. Dr. Scott Turner, Health Ministry Director for the Conference, shared an inspirational sermon on Sabbath and the closing challenge on Sunday. Thank you to Andrew and Lily Ritland for taking all the pictures. The training team: Dena Guthrie, Lynda Nelson, Kathy Pflugrad. We look for many life-changing programs from this workshop.

Orlando, Florida — January 30 - February 3, 2012
This workshop was presented as a part of the North American Division Health Summit, a well-attended and inspiring event from start to finish. There were 41 registered for the CHIP Leadership Training Workshop (one of the largest classes), 39 of whom received certificates of completion. The teaching team included Stephan Herzog, the new General Manager for CHIP in North America; Harold Burden; Kathy Pflugrad; Kathy Randall; and Dena Guthrie.
